Currently, Cardano ranked #12 by market cap and is up 9.17% over the past 24 hours. Cardano’s native token ADA has a market cap of $1.07B with a 24-hour volume of $129.94M. The Cardano team has finally set a date for the lunch of the incentivized testnet of Shelley which is the next iteration of the Cardano blockchain. The team has agreed on November to release the testnet. The Cardano users on the incentivized testnet will be able to earn actual ADA rewards from staking that will be moved to the mainnet once Shelley officially launches.

After months of teasing its community with the launch of an incentivized testnet for the next iteration of Cardano, IOHK finally issued more details on its blog post about the testnet. Previously, the blockchain has been highly criticized for its slow pace in updates and development, it appears the team have worked on that criticism and have picked up the pace after celebrating its second birthday in October.
Previously this year, the company rolled out a testnet for Shelley, a new phase for the Cardano blockchain that will bring about staking. The company is now set to launch a new incentivized version. The senior product manager of Cardano, Dynal Patel stated that joining the incentivized testnet will permit all ADA holders to earn actual ADA rewards. He went thus: “This marks an acceleration in the Shelley testnet and Cardano’s development.”
Patel explained that the incentivized testnet aims to ensure Ouroboros runs smoothly. Ouroboros is an advanced proof-of-stake (PoS) protocol that the Cardano Company is currently working on. Although, the density of such a protocol requires “stable and robust foundations,” which is why the IOHK decided to implement it in an incentivized testnet first. This testnet aims to enable IOHK to see how Cardano’s incentivized mechanism works in a real-world environment.
In the press release, Patel stated that the incentivized testnet will start with a snapshot of all the ADA balances held across the mainnet. Thus, any users who hold or transfers their ADA to one of the several approved wallets at the time of the snapshot can take part in the incentivized testnet. Although the date for the snapshot is yet to be made public, Patel confirmed that it will occur sometime in November. And to ensure that all users are fully prepared, there will be a test snapshot before the final one.
