• A CNN study finds that Bitcoin is by far the most profitable asset class of the 2010s

With a new decade starting within a few weeks, mainstream American news network CNN looked back at the performance of investments over the past decade, and found that Bitcoin is the by far the most profitable asset class of the 2010s. USD 1 invested into Bitcoin at the beginning of the decade would be USD 90,000 today, meaning an investment of just USD 11.12 would have become USD 1 million.

Other asset classes pale in comparison to Bitcoin. The stock market was in a bull market the entire decade, yet USD 1 invested into American stocks only grew into USD 3.46. This is considered an impressive gain for the stock market, but is pretty much nothing relative to Bitcoin.

USD 1 invested into bonds would have turned into USD 2.08. Despite that, bonds remain favored as a safe haven asset versus Bitcoin. Likewise, gold is often touted as a major Bitcoin competitor, but USD 1 invested into gold would have only turned into USD 1.34.

Some major asset classes even lost value, with USD 1 of oil becoming USD 0.74.

Now the question is will Bitcoin continue to be the top-performing asset class in the 2020s?
