Tezos holders that stake their XTZ tokens are eligible to receive additional tokens as an incentive for verifying and creating blocks.

Regarding the financial performance of the coin, XTZ started the year around at the 47 cents mark. nevertheless, by the end of the first quarter of the year, the price of the digital currency surged to $1.06. The performance of Tezos (XTZ) continued to increase between April and June. The price of the digital currency surged to a high of $1.88 on May 19.

In the third quarter of the year, the price of the digital currency continued to hover around the $1 and $1.2 range. Nevertheless, since the beginning of this month, the digital currency has picked up momentum once again, and it is currently trading at $1.51. Tezos has also found its way to the top ten cryptos by market cap. XTZ is now the tenth-largest digital currency by market cap. Since the beginning of this year, the price of Tezos is up by about 200 percent.

Chainlink had a better year

Another great performer in the market is Chainlink. Chainlink is the best performing digital currency of this year. In a period of five months, the price of Chainlink has surged from 31 cents to 45 cents. Nevertheless, by the first week of July, the price of LINK surged to a high of $3.74. In all, the price of LINK against the USD is up by more than 500 percent since the beginning of this year. Whereas, the LINK/BTC pair is up by more than 300 percent since the beginning of this year.
