Hedge fund and venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz has published a piece that predicts what life will be like in 2030. One of the predictions is that social media influencers will have their own native cryptocurrencies, and also that they will use blockchain-based supply chains.
Essentially, the prediction is that social media influencers will reward followers for giving feedback. The example used is that the influencer may be looking to put out new fashion styles, and will ask their followers before mass manufacturing the clothes. When the followers give their feedback they instantly receive the influencer coin.
This is a way for social media influencers to get feedback en masse, and also a way for followers to ‘invest’ in the potential future success of a certain influencer.
Andreessen Horowitz goes on to say that blockchain-based supply chains and smart contracts will be used in every step of the manufacturing process once the social media influencer decides to launch a certain line of clothes.
Only time will tell, but certainly, blockchain technology has the potential to change the social media industry, as well as all other industries.
