Tron News Today – the STEEM vs Sun saga is once again in the news after the most recent explanation given by Binance chief, Changpeng “CZ” Zhao. The community has slammed his response claiming that it raises more questions than answers. The crypto Twitter community is now actively involved in the debacle with some section agreeing with CZ while others have dismissed his statements as “irresponsible” to say the least. Let us see some of the statements from all sides involved in the issue.
On March 7, CZ penned down a thread of tweets over the ongoing saga between STEEM and Justin Sun. In his tweets, he asked the community to assist in the explanation of the problem sent to him by Sun. Here are his words:
“I didn’t want to be involved originally, but this doesn’t seem to be a possibility. I approved the vote from Binance, believing it was a regular fork. For this reason, I apologize. This way it is fair that I am involved in the issue until it has been resolved.”
Sun thinks the Blockchain has the right to utilize the tokens, but some sections of the community think there’s a promise that the affected crypto would never be used. In response, CZ said he hasn’t seen evidence of a promise not to use the affected coins. In the following thread of tweets, CZ requested that the community helps him understand the code that Sun’s team used to lock user funds.
Crypto analysts, offered their opinions on the matter and gave answers. Some of which tried to lighten how severe the issue is. Others think Sun bought a failing company and won a political struggle fairly following the rules.
Larry Cermak, a researcher with The Block bashed Binance CEO for his mistake. He describes CZ’s actions as ‘irresponsible’ after the latter admitted mistake. Cermak tweeted:
“An individual who promotes decentralization made an irresponsible decision for thousands of users. He blocked users’ ability to withdraw their tokens. He apologized so it’s ok. But his actions are troubling.”
Cermak further urged the Binance chief to be extra careful when handling user funds especially if he isn’t aware of what is going on. Here is his tweet:
“Maybe, if you don’t know what is going on, stop handling decisions for thousands of users without their consent. Especially if the decision will effectively render their holdings insolvent.”
